A Look Into Guy and Ralna’s Divorce, What Exactly Happened?

Guy and Ralna, two singers, got a divorce when they realized they couldn’t live together as husband and wife.

Guy and Ralna are a singing duo from the United States. From 1970 to 1982, they were on The Lawrence Welk Show.

In 1972, “Hymes We Love to Sing,” one of their many albums, was nominated for a Dove Award. “We Love to Sing,” which was released by Country Songs in 1973, also made it to No. 21 on the Billboard Country Albums list. In the 1970s, when they had a fan club and were on a lot of TV shows and commercials, their popularity went through the roof.

“Give Me That Old Time,” “Listen to My Smile,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Orange Blossom Special,” and many more of their songs are also well-known.

In their personal lives, Guy and Ralna have also known each other. At the start of 1969, they got married. But after a few years together, especially in 1984, they both agreed to end their marriage.

Guy and Ralna’s divorce was friendly

Guy and Ralna loved each other very much and wanted to be together for the rest of their lives.

But after they got married on January 25, 1969, things began to get worse between them.

Ralna thought that the two didn’t care enough about each other. But it took them a while to make a formal decision to break up. In 1978, Guy and Ralna broke up and started living on their own.

Guy and Ralna both kept making music after they got divorced, but they didn’t do it together. Instead, they did it on their own.

When asked about her relationship with Guy after so many years apart, Ralna said that even though they couldn’t make it as a married couple, they have undeniable chemistry when they sing together.

She also said that they were so in tune with each other on stage. However, even though they sang love songs and ate dinner together on stage, they went back to their own lives afterward.

Guy also said that they had known each other for more than 50 years and that their relationship was mostly good. It was partly because of how well their voices worked together and how well they had always harmonized.

He also said that Guy and Ralna have a strong bond, not just because of their jobs but also because of their daughter.

Guy and Ralna’s child is a girl

Julie Hovis is the daughter of Guy and Ralna. She was first seen on The Welk Show’s New Year’s Eve show in 1977.

Later, she and her parents would be on camera for a number of Christmas shows. As time went on, Julie became an adult and went to Arizona State University to get her degree. She then went on to teach elementary school in the Phoenix public school system.

On November 3, 2017, Ralna posted a few photos of her daughter Julie on Facebook and wished her a happy 40th birthday.

Now that Julie is married, it’s not clear what her married life will be like. Her parents are very proud of her work, schooling, and many other things she has done.

Guy and Ralna, are they now married to other people?

After they got a divorce in 1984, Ralna stayed single while Guy married someone else.

On February 16, 2002, at Monmouth Plantation in Natchez, Mississippi, Guy married Sarah Lundy Moorehead in a formal ceremony. This was almost 20 years after they first met.

Guy and Sis met for the first time at her brother John’s wedding ten years ago, when they were already engaged. They saw each other again at John’s 40th birthday party. John Lundy and his wife, Hayley, were with Guy and Sis as they said their vows.

After getting married, the couple went to New York City for a short honeymoon, where they saw a few shows. On their way back to Mississippi to go to Guy’s niece Heather’s wedding, they stopped in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

After that, Guy played as much as he could while working as the state director for U.S. Senator Trent Lott.

Sis was born and raised in the Mississippi Delta. She has had a very successful career in nursing administration. She was also in charge of preoperative services at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

In the same way, Sis has two grown children, a son and a daughter, and she also has two grandchildren. Also, Sis and Ralna looked like they knew each other well. They are often seen taking pictures together at family events, and they were even seen at Julie’s 40th birthday party.

Early years

She grew up in Lubbock, Texas. When she was a teenager, her band, “Ralna and the Ad-Libs,” won a local battle of the bands. Buddy Holly, who was born and raised in Lubbock, was one of her competitors. She went to Texas Tech University and sang jingles for TV commercials in Dallas. In the late 1960s, she moved to California, where she often performed at The Horn nightclub in Santa Monica.

She met Guy Hovis, who was from Mississippi and also wanted to be a performer, while she was working at The Horn nightclub. On January 25, 1969, they got married.

Later that year, she joined Lawrence Welk on his TV show, where she was at first the only performer. Guy joined the show in the first year, and they were one of the most popular acts on the show for the next thirteen years, until it ended in 1982.

English was also by the bedside of fellow performer Jo Ann Castle in 2005, when Castle had a drug overdose and a stroke.

In March 2007, English’s TV special, Ralna English: From My Heart, was shown for the first time on PBS all over the country. In the special, which was a fundraiser for PBS, she sang with a 100-voice choir and a 75-piece orchestra.

In 2007, English also put out a cookbook called “Ralna English Family Cookbook,” which people who bought DVDs of her TV special could get. Her two sisters, Sharon and Jane, as well as her aunts, grandmother, mother, and other family members, gave her recipes.

Now that she lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, English still plays a lot of concerts, either by herself or with her ex-husband, Hovis.

Ralna Eve English is an American singer who was born in Haskell, Texas, on June 19, 1942. She became famous as one half of the husband-and-wife singing duo Guy & Ralna with her then-husband Guy Hovis. Both of them performed on The Lawrence Welk Show.

Even though they split up in 1984, they are still good friends and often play concerts together. They have a daughter named Julie (born 1977). Hovis has since gotten married again, but English stayed single. Ralna was also by the bedside of fellow performer Jo Ann Castle in 2005, when Castle had a drug overdose and a stroke.

In 2007, Ralna also published a “Ralna English Family Cookbook”, which was offered to viewers who purchased DVDs of her TV special. Her two sisters, Sharon and Jane, as well as her aunts, grandmother, mother, and other family members, gave her recipes.

Now that she lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, Ralna still has a busy concert schedule. She either performs alone or with her ex-husband, Guy Hovis, who was a longtime friend of former Republican U.S. Senator Trent Lott and worked for him in Jackson, Mississippi.

Background

Hovis was born and raised in Tupelo, Mississippi. His father was a Mississippi Highway Patrol officer. He went to the University of Mississippi at Oxford and got a Bachelor of Science. After a two-year stint in the United States Army, Hovis decided to try a career as a musical performer in Hollywood.

His first break came with an appearance on the CBS House Party television program hosted by Art Linkletter; thereafter, he teamed with David Blaylock as the singing duo of Guy & David, which led to a recording contract with ABC Records.

After the duo broke up, Hovis went back to being a solo artist and played in Los Angeles nightclubs like The Horn in Santa Monica, California. It was there that he met Ralna English, who would become his wife and singing partner. The couple wed in January 1969.

Ralna gave birth to their daughter Julie on October 30, 1977. Julie went on to teach first grade. After 15 years of marriage, Hovis and English got a divorce in 1984. However, they still perform together at concerts from time to time.

Career in Music

Later in 1969, Ralna became a solo singer on The Lawrence Welk Show. By the time the Christmas episode was filmed, Ralna had persuaded Welk to let Hovis sing a duet with her. He agreed, and after his first appearance, when he sang “Little Toy Trains,” he became a regular cast member.

Guy and Ralna were one of the most popular acts on the show for the next twelve years. Part of what made their act interesting was that Guy and Ralna seemed like a happy married couple. After the show ended in 1982, Hovis kept performing and also started writing songs and making records. He sang the title song “Too Many Yesterdays” for the film, Benji the Hunted.

Hovis also did shows with Dinah Shore and Jim Nabors, and he appeared on shows with Johnny Carson, Merv Griffin, Joey Bishop, and Mike Douglas. In 1986, he began a Christian music ministry and played in churches and other public places all over the country.

Hovis married Sarah “Sis” Lundy in 2002. They live together in Jackson, Mississippi, which is the state capital. Hovis was the state director for former U.S. Senator Trent Lott from 1990 to 2007. Since they were in college at Ole Miss, they have been friends. Hovis still performs at the Lawrence Welk Resort in Branson, Missouri, or with Ralna at state fairs, concert halls, and casinos. He also appears in PBS pledge specials.

At President George W. Bush’s second inauguration on January 20, 2005, Hovis sang “Let the Eagle Soar,” a song written by then-Attorney General John Ashcroft of Missouri.
