Gavin Wofford flushing mi dead and obituary, Assistant Director of Strength

Gavin Hopkins was appointed Assistant Director of Physical Training at Wofford Academy in July 2022. He will primarily work with the baseball and football teams, while working with all 20 Wofford sports.

Before joining the Terriers, he was an assistant strength coach at the University of South Carolina and worked on the football team. In the fall of 2020, he interned at Marshall University, working with the baseball, football and softball teams. In the spring of 2020, Hopkins assisted the football and baseball teams at Purdue. He gained his first experience in the fall of 2019 as an intern on the University of Georgia football team.

Hopkins received a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Ball State University in December 2019. He received a master’s degree in Global Health Education from Purdue University in 2021. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

The funeral of Gary Dean Wofford, 58, of Leura will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Rocky Point Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Glen Russell will officiate. After the service, a funeral will be held at Lula Cemetery. Families will meet visitors at Criswell Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm

On Friday, January 9, 2009, Mr. Wofford passed away at his home. On February 5, 1950, his parents, Earl Wofford and Juanita Williams Wofford, welcomed him into the world in Allen, Oklahoma. He graduated from Allen High School, where he was educated at the Allen School. After 35 years of service, Mr. Wofford retired from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a brakeman and conductor. From 1968 to 1969, he was a member of the National Guard.

Surviving family members include son Craig Wofford and his wife Jacki, who live in Leura; daughter Jana Walley and husband Gerrad, who live in English Fort. Worth, Texas; sister Billie Russell and husband Glenn, both in Faris, Oklahoma; two brothers, Harold Wofford and Allen’s wife Brenda, and Roy Wofford and McAlester’s wife Dana; three grandchildren , Reed Heath Walley, Hoot Wilson and Mrs. Tree

He was preceded by his parents, a son, Keith Alan Wofford, and a sibling, Winfred Earl Wofford. He is the youngest of four children. These Woffords will serve as standard bearers for the team: Ross Wofford, Shawn Wofford, Chuck Wofford, Brad Wofford, Chris Wofford and Jamie Wofford. The following individuals were selected as recipients: Gerrad Walley, Ronnie Robinson, Jack Stewart, Bob Boyd, Frank Bynum, Randall LaFevers and David Wright.
