Their first-born son, Aegon II Targaryen, is in competition for the Iron Throne with Rhaenyra, the daughter of Alicent’s best friend and Viserys I’s son. As a result, the two people who used to be friends become fierce rivals, and the kingdom is split between those who support Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne and those who support Aegon II’s claim. At first, she and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, who was Queen Alicent’s step-daughter, got along well.

Before Aegon won, the house became in charge of Highgarden by marrying into it. Fans of “Game of Thrones” will know this place as the old home of the Tyrell family.

After Aegon took over Westeros, the Hightower family decided not to fight against the dragon lords. Instead, they swore allegiance to them, and Aegon the Conqueror put Lord Manfred Hightower in charge of Oldtown.

In the first episode of House of the Dragon, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) chooses the knight with the emblem as his first opponent in the jousting competition because the emblem looks like a tower with fire coming out of it.

The knight from the Hightower family doesn’t have a name, but it seems likely that he is Gwayne Hightower, one of Alicent’s brothers, even though this isn’t stated directly.
