Eden Hazard biography

Eden Hazard was born on January 7, 1991, in La Louvière and was raised in Braine-le-Comte. Both of his parents, Carine and Thierry, were footballers, with his father playing mainly as a defensive midfielder for La Louvière in the Belgian Second Division at a semi-professional level, while his mother played as a striker in the Belgian Women’s First Division.

After their football careers, both parents became sports teachers, with Thierry retiring from his position in 2009 to devote more time to his children. Hazard is the eldest of four children, with three younger brothers, all of whom play football. Thorgan, one of his younger brothers, joined him at Chelsea in 2012.

Hazard and his siblings were raised in a comfortable environment, with their parents ensuring they had everything they needed to excel. Hazard began his senior career with Ligue 1 club Lille in 2007 at the age of 16 and quickly became an integral part of the team under manager Rudi Garcia.

In his first full season, he became the first non-French player to win the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year award, and the following season became the first player to win the award twice. In the 2010–11 season, he won the league and cup double and was named the Ligue 1 Player of the Year, the youngest player to win the award.

After making over 190 appearances and scoring 50 goals for Lille, Hazard signed for English club Chelsea in June 2012.

In his first season, he won the UEFA Europa League, and in his second, he won the PFA Young Player of the Year. In the 2014–15 season, he helped Chelsea win the Football League Cup and Premier League, earning him the FWA Footballer of the Year and the PFA Players’ Player of the Year awards.

Eden Hazard retires from football

Eden Hazard, who is only 32 years old, has declared his retirement from football. The Belgian left Real Madrid in the summer of 2023, one year before the end of his contract, and despite numerous rumours, he didn’t sign with any other team.

Hazard struggled with injuries at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu after suffering an injury in his first season at Real Madrid during a Champions League match against PSG in the 2019–20 season. Hazard was never the same after that injury.

After enjoying success with Lille, Chelsea, and the Belgian national team, whom he led to third place at the 2018 World Cup, he announces his retirement.
