Plot, Cast, Release Date, and Everything Else We Know
Sky High: The Series has recently received a lot of attention from movie and TV show enthusiasts all over the world, and almost everyone assumed it was a sequel or remake of the original superhero film Sky High (2005). Their expectations were shattered when they discovered it was an entirely new series with a completely different premise. Nonetheless, Spanish crime thrillers have long been recognized as a splendid form of entertainment, with titles such as The Invisible Guest, Mirage, and The Body serving as examples.
Sky High: The Series is an upcoming Spanish crime thriller entitled Hasta el cielo: La serie in its original language. The series, which stars prominent actors such as Luis Tosar, Asia Ortega, and Alvaro Rico, is a sequel to the Sky High film, released in 2020. The series is one of Netflix’s most anticipated originals this year, so it seems to reason that people are keen on learning more about it. Well, here’s everything we know so far about Sky High: The Series, the upcoming Spanish thriller.
Sky High: The Series: The Plot
According to the Netflix teaser, the story follows Sole, the wife of Angel, the leader of a well-known band of thieves. When she learns that her husband died in a gangster dispute, she is devastated and musters the courage to survive alone. Having a son to protect and multiple businesses to manage to secure a future, she chose to act independently rather than rely on her father, Rogelio, one of Madrid’s most successful traffickers of stolen goods. As she pursues an ambition greater than her husband’s, she meets new allies who will eventually assist her in fulfilling her destiny. Winning the trust of gangs to organize heists is difficult enough, but having various mafias and agents on her tail will make it even harder for her to live.
While the heart-pumping teaser, from which we elaborated on the plot, does not reveal much about the series, here is Netflix’s official summary:
A phone call in the middle of the night will change Sole’s destiny: Ángel, her husband and leader of a gang of gangsters has died; turned overnight into a young widow with a son to take care of and many troubled businesses to run, Sole is not willing to return to the tutelage of her father Rogelio, one of the biggest dealers of stolen objects in Madrid. Determined to make a living for herself, Sole will find new allies along the way who will help her to unravel the mystery of the deaths that have marked her destiny, while she makes contact with the gang of thieves and manages to win their trust so that she can once again carry out robberies as ambitious as those of the old days. But neither the police nor the different mafias she’ll have to compete with will be willing to make her way to heaven easy.
