Abusive Couple Arrested for Allegedly Exploiting Minors Online
A couple in Lanao del Norte was arrested after allegedly using their two underage children for online exploitation.
The National Bureau of Investigation – Anti-Human Trafficking Division conducted over a week of surveillance before raiding the couple’s home. The female suspect attempted to dispose of her cell phone, but the police operatives successfully retrieved it.
Authorities revealed that the suspects had been selling explicit photos and videos of their children to foreign clients for over a year.
NBI – Anti-Human Trafficking Division chief Atty. Cath Nolasco said that one of the apprehended clients is a British national from the UK who was found to have received materials originating from the Philippines.
“Nagsimula ito kasi may nahuli na isang Briton sa United Kingdom at sa mga materials na narecover sa Briton na napansin nila na ang mga materials ay posibleng nanggaling ditto sa Pilipinas at na confirm nga namin na sa Lanao del Norte ito,” Nolasco said.
Nolasco confirmed in their surveillance that the materials indeed came from Lanao del Norte. The suspects even offered to engage in explicit activities with their children if the online client was physically present.
“Actually in-offer pa nga nila na kung nandito ‘yung kausap nila online, mag-actual sex sila ng mga anak niya,” Nolasco added.
The victims, aged four and five, are now under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The suspects will face charges related to qualified human trafficking online, sexual abuse and exploitation, and violation of anti-child abuse laws.
As reported, the suspects have not provided any statements. The case indicates the importance of vigilance and the collaboration of law enforcement agencies in fighting online exploitation and ensuring the safety of minors.
The legal proceedings will play an important role in holding the suspects accountable for their actions and protecting the young victims from possible harm.
