PS5 HDMI Not Working, How To Fix PS5 HDMI Port And Causes For PS5 HDMI Not Working

What HDMI Port Does The PS5 Contain?

The PS5 HDMI Port  is equipped with an ultra high speed HDMI port, or HDMI 2.1. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S have set the goal to deliver 4K 60Hz-120Hz and particularly 1080p 120Hz. Two years after the launch, only a few games have managed to reach 4K 120Hz, while the others are 4K 60Hz or lower. The PlayStation 5 needs a HDMI 2.1 compatible connection to support the console’s wide range of features, which includes the 4K resolution and high frame rates. HDMI 2.0 is not enough for these features.

PS5 HDMI Not Working

If you connect an HDMI cable to your PS5 and no picture displays on your TV, then it means you are experiencing a problem with the console’s HDMI port. There are a few ways to recognize a PS5 HDMI Port issue. 

  • Your Television shows a black screen or “No Input” message on the HDMI channel the console is connected to, which depicts iit’s not receiving a video signal. 

  • The PS5 shows a blue light for a longer period when switched on before shutting off. It’s called the “Blue Light of Death” and indicates an internal hardware problem. .

  • A blurry and fuzzy picture on the screen or distorted audio quality.

How To Fix PS5 HDMI Port?

The following fix methods could be used to fix the PS5 HDMI not working issue. 

1) Inspect Your PS5 And HDTV’s HDMI Ports

The HDMI port is usually present on the back left of the PS5 between the AC power and ethernet ports. 

  • Once, see if any damage or dirt accumulates in the port.

  • Then, see if the HDMI cable is inserted properly. 

  • Check if any part of the plug is sticking out on your HDMI cable, it may not be connected properly.

2) Check Your HDTV

Once, check your HDTV. You must see the connection to your TV and then connect the console to a different HDMI port. 

  • If that doesn’t function properly, then try to use a different HDMI cable or hooking your PS5 up to a different TV. 

  • If you have a Smart TV, ensure that the firmware has been updated to the latest version.

3) Disable HDR 

The PS5’s HDR setting may contradict with some TV models, so switching it off may help if you experience a blinking or flickering screen. 

  • You must go to PS5 Settings and then choose Screen and Video.

  • Next,  tap Video Output and then HDR and switch the setting off.

4) Boot Into Safe Mode

You can put your PS5 into safe mode to fix your HDMI port issue, and also other problems.

  • To enter safe mode, switch Off the console by tapping and holding the power button till the PS5 beeps twice. 

  • Next, tap and hold the power button for a minimum of 7 seconds. 

  • After you hear two beeps, release the button. 

  • Next, connect your DualSense wireless controller with a USB cable and tap the [PS] button on the controller.

  • On the safe mode menus, choose the option 2 Change Video Output. 

  • Set HDCP mode to HDCP 1.4 only. After choosing, restart the PS5.

Causes For PS5 HDMI Not Working

There are several reasons why your PS5 HDMI port may not be working. Those causes could be mitigated using the fix methods in some cases. Here are some of the causes of the  PS5 HDMI not working issue. 

  • Dirt and dust storage in the port, which can disrupt and even damage video/audio transmission.

  • The HDMI cable prongs are bent due to heavy force.

  • The HDMI port was damaged by inserting the cable too forcefully.

  • The HDMI chip on the PS5 motherboard has become faulty.
