  • Select “View Profile” to access your profile page.

  • Look for the “Open to” status box located just below your main information. If you have enabled the feature, you will see a list of preferred roles there. Follow the steps below to remove or modify your status.

  • Click on the pencil icon located in the corner of the “Open to work” info box. This will open a pop-up window.

  • Scroll down to the “Delete from profile” option located at the bottom of the window.

  • Click “Delete” in the pop-up to remove the “Open to work” status from your profile.

If you are still looking for a job opportunity but don’t want to publicly advertise this, you can hide your status from other users by following these steps:

  • Log in to LinkedIn and open your profile.

  • Look for the “Open to Work” box located in the top section of your profile.

  • Click on the pencil icon located in the corner of the box to edit your preferences.

  • Click the down arrow next to “All LinkedIn Members.”

  • Select “Recruiters Only.”

  • Press “Save” to save the changes.

To remove or edit your Open to Work status on LinkedIn using the mobile app, follow these steps:

  • Launch the LinkedIn app on your iOS or Android device.

  • Tap your profile picture on your main feed.

  • Select “View Profile” under your name.

  • At the top of your profile, you’ll see the “Open to Work” box. Tap the pencil icon to edit.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap “Delete from Profile” to remove the status.

To stay open to new job opportunities without showing them to other LinkedIn members, do the following:

  • Go to your Open to Work settings following the steps above.

  • Tap “All LinkedIn Members.”

  • Change it to “Recruiters only.”

  • Tap “Save” to apply the changes.

The OpenToWork banner on your profile icon can be a clear signal to recruiters that you’re actively job hunting. However, if you want to keep your job search more discreet, you can remove the banner by following the instructions above to delete the Open to Work feature or change it to be visible to Recruiters only.

If you prefer to adjust this setting directly on your profile photo, here’s how:

  • Click the “Plus” icon on your profile.

  • Select “View or edit profile photo.”

  • Look for the “Frames” option at the bottom of the pop-up window.

  • Choose the blank option to remove any banner from your icon.

  • Click the “Apply” button.

  • A pop-up will appear asking if you want to remove Open to Work from your profile or make it visible to recruiters only. Select either option, as both will remove the banner.

  • When you visit another user’s profile on LinkedIn, they will receive an alert that you viewed their profile.

  • The user can also see your visit on their profile history.

  • However, if you view their profile while in private mode, they won’t receive an alert and it won’t be visible on their profile history.

  • If you want to remain completely anonymous, switch to private mode, but keep in mind that your profile viewing will still be counted.
