The Kang Dynasty Writer Hints at Namor’s Appearance in the Film
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer has hinted at Namor joining the MCU film, after his appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe constantly evolves and expands, with Phase 5 bringing new and exciting developments to the franchise. Marvel fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the next two Avengers movies, which will be crucial in moving the Multiverse Saga forward. In particular, the upcoming Phase 6 film, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, has already sparked a lot of interest. This movie will feature Kang as the main villain, played by the talented actor Jonathan Majors. Kang made his first appearance in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, which served as an introduction to the character for many fans. However, his role in the new Avengers movie is expected to be much larger and more significant.
One of the most exciting aspects of the new Avengers movie is the question of who will be on the team. With some members having retired or moved on and new heroes being introduced all the time, there is plenty of speculation among fans about who will make the cut for this movie. In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness, the writer of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, hinted that Namor the Sub-Mariner will be one of the new team members.
“Namor, man. I’m excited to write Namor.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever marked Namor’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s primary timeline, introducing the mutant sub-mariner as the movie’s main antagonist. The plot centers around the aftermath of King T’Challa’s death, which leaves Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye, and the Dora Milaje struggling to protect Wakanda from outside threats. Despite his popularity among fans, legal issues have prevented Namor from getting his solo movie. The rights to the character are complex and have been disputed between different studios. This has made it difficult for Marvel to include Namor in their cinematic universe in the same way that they have included other characters.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Teases Namor’s Mutant Future in the MCU
Namor is a character with a complex history. Namor was Marvel’s first-ever anti-hero and has been a member of several superhero teams, including the Avengers, the Defenders, and the X-Men. However, he has also been a villain in various storylines and has a complicated relationship with The Fantastic Four.
In an interview with Ta-Nehisi Coates on The Official Black Panther Podcast, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore discussed Namor’s potential future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige mentioned that there are 80 years of stories with Namor that Marvel can tap into, which is exciting news for fans of the character. However, they did not reveal specific details about their vision for Tenoch Huerta’s portrayal of Namor or when and where he will appear in future films.
“You know, people who read the comics know that there’s 80 years of stories with Namor that we can tap into,” Feige began. “So, where and when, we’ll keep to ourselves for now. But, we think that this is an incredibly iconic character that’s being introduced. Probably, to most people, most movie-goers for the first time. And we expect them to want to see more.”
While a solo Namor movie may not be in the cards for the future, fans can still look forward to seeing the character in action in other Marvel movies. With the introduction of mutants to the MCU, Namor’s presence in the franchise could expand in exciting ways.
