The Kang Dynasty Writer Teases a High Death Toll in the Upcoming Film

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer Jeff Loveness teases that Kang will “bring the heat” and please “bloodthirsty fans” in the upcoming film.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building up to the arrival of Kang the Conqueror for some time now, and his appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania did not disappoint. The character, portrayed by Jonathan Majors, was praised for his intimidating presence, pushing Scott Lang/Ant-Man to his limits within the Quantum Realm. However, Kang’s stranglehold on the heroes will only strengthen in the upcoming film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

According to writer Jeff Loveness in an interview with ComicBook.com, the film promises to be one of the MCU’s most tragic yet, with a colossal death toll expected. However, fans hoping for more casualties after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame may find themselves more satisfied with this film. Loveness suggests that Kang will “bring the heat” in this upcoming Avengers installment, further underscoring the villain’s terrifying capabilities.

“I think for these bloodthirsty fans, there’s a little movie called Avengers: Kang Dynasty, I think he’ll bring the heat,” Loveness said.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is expected to delve deeper into the complexities of time travel, a recurring theme in the MCU. With Kang’s mastery of time and space, the film will surely challenge the Avengers in ways they have never experienced before. It will also be interesting to see how Kang’s character develops throughout the film, especially given that he is set to become a recurring villain in the MCU. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has kicked off MCU’s Phase 5 and currently sits on top of the year’s box office with a gross of $265 million worldwide. However, critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a low 48% approval rating, while audiences gave it a much higher rating of 84%. Writer Jeff Loveness is the man behind the script for this film and is now working on the script for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Loveness explained that he did not originally anticipate being tapped to write the script for The Kang Dynasty. However, his work on Quantumania was instrumental in preparing him for the task at hand. According to Loveness, he “secretly” included plot points in Quantumania that he thought would be well-suited for an Avengers movie.

“I’m thrilled. I got another swing to the bat. I did not intend [it], and that was not part of the plan with Quantumania. I had just written that and, hopefully, they liked my take on Kang, and they liked my vision for where I thought it should go. But I thought I was one and done; I thought I was coming in to do a fun Ant-Man movie, and I’d be moving on.

But then the opportunity came. You get the call, and they say, “Hey, we’re having tryouts. What’s your take? Can you come in tomorrow and give us your pitch?” That was a long morning. I woke up kind of early, got that together. I didn’t really have a plan when I was making Quantumania, but luckily, I did secretly put in things which are in the movie that I thought would be good for an Avengers movie. And luckily, Marvel thought so too.

I kind of cheated, I guess. I cheated myself into a job. I secretly put that stuff in there.”

Although the film has received mixed reviews from critics, audiences have generally responded positively to the latest installment in the Ant-Man franchise. With Loveness now at the helm of a major Avengers movie, it will be interesting to see how he builds on the groundwork he laid in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and brings his unique vision to the table.
