He was born in the city of New Delhi. He works as both an actor and an editor. He went to the National School of Drama in New Delhi, India, and the Canadian Film Centre in Toronto, Canada, where he got his degrees. Since he was a child, Vipin had a strong desire to be an actor. He has sneaked out of his house many times to watch movies without telling anyone. He used to go to his neighbor’s house to watch movies because their house didn’t have electricity. He was also nominated for the Star Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor for the movie “Taare Zameen Par” in 2009. In 2014, he also made his first movie as a director with “Akki Te Vikki Te Nikki.”

Sharma started acting in Doordarshan’s TV show Bharat Ek Khoj in 1989. In 1996, he made his film debut with Krishna, but it was his role as Nandakishore Awasthi in Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par that made him famous (2007). Later, he was nominated for his first Screen Award for Taare Zameen Par, but he lost to his co-star Aamir Khan for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

He has played DCP Bhagat on the Amazon show Paatal Lok since 2020.
