Wakanda Forever Poster Puts Shuri & Namor Front and Centre
A new poster for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been released alongside the exciting new trailer. The poster comes courtesy of the official Twitter account for Marvel Studios, and finds Letitia Wright as Shuri and Tenoch Huerta as Namor taking center stage. Check out the new poster for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever below.
Marvel Studios sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will reflect real-life circumstances, with the role of T’Challa, played throughout the MCU, not being recast for the sequel. Instead, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will begin with Queen Ramonda, Shuri, Nakia, M’Baku, Okoye, and the Wakandan nation coming to terms with their loss of their king, who has passed away since the events of Avengers: Endgame.
Lost in their grief, they will need to come together and fight to protect their nation from an invasion that comes from beneath the sea. When Namor and his underwater nation declare war on the surface world, Shuri, M’Baku, and Nakia must band together and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.
Putting Shuri front and center, standing opposite Namor, adds to the ongoing theory that she will be the one to pick up the mantle of the Black Panther in the highly anticipated follow-up. Shuri has been the favorite to take over, alongside M’Baku and Nakia, with an alleged plot leak claiming that this is indeed what will happen when we return to Wakanda later this year. The latest trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever provides some of our biggest hints yet that it will be Shuri who dons the vibranium suit, with the character being given the spotlight in both the latest footage and this newly released poster.
Shuri Will Do Battle with Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
As well as dealing with the fallout from the loss of T’Challa and introducing a new Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will also introduce beloved antihero Namor the Submariner to the MCU. Played by Narcos: Mexico and The Forever Purge star Tenoch Huerta, the sequel will make a few changes to the character for his entry into the MCU, changing the underwater kingdom of Atlantis to Talocan and taking inspiration from Mayan and Aztec iconography.
“You can take Atlantis from Greek myth, or you can adapt from a real culture,” Huerta said about how Namor will be portrayed in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, before revealing that it is Wakanda’s decision to reveal itself to the world that leads to war. “That decision puts Talocan in jeopardy. And Talocan has to take action to protect themselves,” the actor explained.
Directed by Ryan Coogler, who has co-written the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever stars Letitia Wright as Shuri, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams aka Ironheart, Michaela Coel as Aneka, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, and Angela Bassett as Ramonda. Additionally, the rest of the supporting cast will include Isaach de Bankolé, Dorothy Steel, Danny Sapani, Mabel Cadena, Alex Livinalli, Kamaru Usman, and Richard Schiff.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 11, 2022, as the final film in Phase Four of the MCU.
