Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Received 5 Academy Awards Nominations

Marvel

Angela Bassett has been a great representative of Marvel Studios during this awards season and is emerging as the favorite to take the statuette to Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards. But it’s not the only nomination that the movie has for the Oscars.

Ruth E. Carter will compete for Best Costume Design. Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Goransson are also nominated in the Best Original Song category for Lift Me Up. In addition, Geoffrey Baumann, Craig Hammack, Christopher White, and Dan Sudick will also compete in the Best Visual Effects category; Camille Friend and Joel Harlow will be part of the Best Makeup and Hairstyling award.

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba) fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, ruler of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livinalli.
