Jackson Frank, a well-known NBA blogger noted for his astute analysis, has recently joined PhillyVoice to cover the 76ers.

On October 8, the Sixers’ official Twitter account released a message expressing support for Israel in the aftermath of heightened tensions in the Middle East.

“We stand with the people of Israel and join them in mourning the hundreds of innocent lives lost to terrorism at the hands of Hamas,” the tweet said, along with the hashtag #StandWithIsrael.

After criticizing the Philadelphia 76ers’ social media post in favor of Israel on Twitter, Jackson Frank risked losing his job.

The NBA community was divided by this episode; some defended Frank’s ideals and character, while others complimented his moral courage and highlighted his commitment to his journalistic profession.

What happened to Jackson Frank?

Jackson Frank, a sports writer for PhillyVoice, was threatened with dismissal after criticizing a Philadelphia 76ers social media post in favour of Israel.

The issue started when the 76ers posted a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter) on October 8 with the hashtag #StandWithIsrael, saying, “We stand with the people of Israel and join them in mourning the hundreds of innocent lives lost to terrorism at the hands of Hamas.

Frank commented on this topic and said, “This post sucks!” expressing his displeasure. Always in solidarity with Palestine.

Before Frank cancelled his account, which had more than 34,000 followers, this comment received considerable attention, receiving over 18,000 views.

Jackson Frank was expelled from PhillyVoice on October 9 as a result of this scandal, according to Hal Donnelly, CEO of the publication. On Twitter, Frank’s NBA peers expressed displeasure over this choice.

Despite the divisive nature of his post, many of them defended Frank’s moral character and his freedom to express his opinions.

Writing for the sports betting website Covers, Rory Breasil applauded Frank’s unwavering commitment to standing up for the disadvantaged and bemoaned the loss of his employment.

Former Raptors beat writer Anthony Doyle praised Frank’s abilities as a basketball analyst and as a kind person.

Frank had recently moved across the country to accept the PhillyVoice job, which was his first full-time career in sports journalism, according to a tweet from someone claiming to be a friend of his.

Another tweet from a friend praised Frank for his moral fortitude and strength and expressed delight in their association with him, regardless of their Jewish origin.
