Woman remains in critical condition

POLICE are seeking a van driver who attempted to warn a lorry driver of his insecure load before it broke free and struck a woman in Lyndhurst.

An injured 23-year-old Totton woman remains in a critical condition after the incident on Monday, October 31, in which she was struck by a pallet of bricks.

The victim was walking along Southampton Road through Lyndhurst at 12.15pm when pallets of bricks became dislodged from a passing lorry and struck her.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Following the incident, Hampshire Constabulary have appealed to any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “Police would like to speak to the driver of a Pitter self-drive van who was seen trying to flag down the lorry driver prior to the incident, to warn him about the insecure load.

“This person many have vital information that could assist the investigation. These vehicles traveled from Rushington to Lyndhurst along the A35.

“We would therefore like to hear from anyone who either witnessed the above, the incident itself or has any information that could help.
