Gautam’s biggest break came in 2019 when she starred with Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina, and Kirsty Kulhari in Aditya Dhar’s military action thriller Uri: The Surgical Strike. Gautam played Pallavi Sharma, a nurse who became an intelligence officer after the 2016 attack in Uri. When the movie came out, it was praised by critics, especially for Gautam’s performance. The movie made more than 3.42 billion (US$44 million) all over the world, making it the third highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.
